Allentown Art Guild Group Show at Laurita Winery!

Since the formation of the Allentown Art Guild in 2006, we have hosted our annual group show during the weekend of the Harvest Festival at the barn studio of Jeff Martin Photography. While we truly enjoyed this space and the success of the shows there, it was a lot of work to do up front to only have the show up for 2 days. We hope that you will come out and join us for our first Group Exhibit at Laurita Winery in New Egypt New Jersey. The show is up for exhibit from October 12th 2009 — through January 7th, 2010. We will host an opening reception on Sunday November 15th from 2pm-5pm. Admission is free. Works on display will be available for purchase direct from Laurita. For more information and directions to Laurita, please visit their website here.

June Meeting Location Changed!

Due to our record rainfall this month, my backyard is one big Mud-Pit and there is more rainfall in the forecast for this friday as well...so we are canceling Raku night at my place and having a meeting at the barn instead. There is some news to go over, we will have a show and tell, Ellen has some Altered Books information she would like to present, and if time permits, we will discuss the ins and outs of keeping an internet blog. Hope to see you there!

PS...we are not scheduled to have a meeting in July, but if I have enough people interested in attending, I would be more than happy to do the Raku night the 3rd friday in July...so let me know if you would come!

Beholden to Beauty

Painter, educator uses art to offer children hope, healing

Jude Vereb Harzer, a painter and educator, believes one of her greatest gifts is the ability to discover beauty in places where it seems the most difficult to find.

The Millstone native, who graduated valedictorian of the Allentown High School class of 1981, grew up in a single parent household as one of six children. In a house "filled with noise," quests for quiet and beauty were constant, necessary pursuits for her. Read Full Article Here.

Flashes of Hope

There is timelessness in a portrait. It is a memorial to a moment of personal history, where a telling expression speaks for a life. The Mona Lisa's smile. Albert Einstein's eyes....Please click on the link to read the article in this past Sunday's Star Ledger about AAG Member Jeff Martin's work with Flashes of Hope. Read the full article here.
